I picked the image of Gatsby's house as Gatsby's house is where everything begins. When I hear Jay Gatsby, I think of his grand parties in his huge house as all the parties were thrown to impress his true love, Daisy. I chose the image of a simple heart as Gatsby did everything for Daisy! Despite his good intentions and his ambition for a better life, Gatsby was an evil man as he participated in illegal activities during prohibition, which is represented by the prohibition sign and the cartoon devils. I chose the image of a sailboat as the sailboat represents Gatsby's past, before he achieved the American Dream. Gatsby was always greedy and always wanted more, which made Gatsby constantly travel on the wrong path.
In Gatsby's words:
Everything I am today is because of my experience on that sailboat, and the people I met along that particular journey. Due to Daisy being born to a wealthy family, I constantly felt like I had to provide her with a certain lifestyle as her voice is "full of money." I am a passionate man, who tries to stay humble. I do everything for my one love, Daisy. I throw these grand parties only for her. My life is full of twists and turns, and often I feel lost because I am on the wrong path. The picture of several roads was chosen because at times I feel so isolated. But when I feel lost, I turn to Daisy and she makes me feel better. Daisy is the one person who makes me feel so good about myself, despite my poor upbringing. I feel like I held the grip too tight on Daisy, causing her to make the wrong decisions in life as she was constantly torn between Tom and I. I chose the cartoon where money is in the person's eyes as I believe that money makes a person successful. Money makes someone happy, and money makes someone powerful. Because of my money, I am famous.

I chose the glasses, the library, and the owl as when I think of Nick Carraway I think of a very educated individual who simply knows what he is doing. Nick is a special character to me as he is an introvert, just like me. Nick often observes all the small details in the novel, and is blessed with knowing the true Jay Gatsby. Nick is often the peacemaker between Daisy and Gatsby, which explains why I chose the dove as an image. I chose a picture of a family as it seems that Nick was the only one who truly cared about his family and his loved ones. Even if Nick had gained money and power, I feel like Nick would have stayed the same humble person. I chose an image of waves as Nick was very calm throughout the novel, and reduced the tension in many of the chapters.
In Nick's words:
I chose the image of a paper and pencil as I often observe everything that happens in New York. I observe everything that happens at parties, even if it means that I have to talk to Owl Eyes. I like my small isolated home as I have time to myself. I can escape reality and the corrupt wealthy folk. Through thick and thin, I hold on to my loved ones.

I chose the images of clothing and jewelry as when I think of Daisy I think of fashion! Daisy was "old money" and grew up in a house full of wealth. With wealth, comes great taste and good clothing! I chose the image of a charm bracelet as the bracelet represents Daisy being "played as a charm" by both Gatsby and Nick. I chose the picture of summer as summer was the time period when Daisy fell in love with the young soldier, Jay Gatsby. Due to Daisy coming from a wealthy family, Gatsby had the urge to lie about his ranking to attract Daisy. I picked the image of a fan as Daisy often has to "cool" herself during the novel due to her being placed in tense situations. Throughout The Great Gatsby, Daisy is torn between Tom and Gatsby. I chose the image of a roller coaster as Daisy's life is full of sudden twists and turns as she does not make a clear decision and stick to it.
In Daisy's words:
I chose the image of pearls as Tom often gave me pearls throughout my life. Pearls mean a lot to me, but I remember the day I broke a pearl necklace because I found out that after many years, Gatsby still loved me. Gatsby promised that he would come back to me, but I still had to marry Tom Buchanan which made me make wrong decisions in the future. I chose the image of a broken heart because I broke Gatsby's heart several times (by marrying Tom). I myself also have a broken heart as even though I am surrounded by loved ones, I feel so alone and lost. My life is full of color, ups and downs, and even twists and turns.

I chose the image of a poster from the Roaring Twenties as it represents what Tom did throughout the novel. Tom would treat life as a joke, and would not appreciate all the things he had in life. Tom was "old money" and partied constantly. I chose a question mark as I feel like Tom was lost in the novel. Tom would hurt all his loved ones, and create a big mess in the end. I picked the cards that state love as Tom often played his loved ones as if he was playing a game. This is shown by Tom cheating on his own wife with Myrtle, and him promising a better future for Myrtle when he had no right too. I chose the image of an individual playing polo as Tom was known for being a polo player, yet he did not like being known as a polo player. I picked the cartoon of a macho man as Tom often thought he was superior to the other characters throughout the novel. I picked the image of the man in the suit crossing his fingers behind his back as Tom often lied to get what he wanted. Towards the end of the novel, Tom lied to George stating that Gatsby was the one who ran over Myrtle in the hit and run accident, which was false. Finally I chose the image of white balloons as Tom often loved to party, and would observe all the innocence at Gatsby's parties.
In Tom's words:
I chose the image of the poster stating life as I treated life as a joke. I lived each day like it was my last, and I enjoyed the privileged life I had been born to. I chose the image of a polo player, as polo was the one thing that I was good at. Since I have always been wealthy and a roaring life, I did not have to have a job to support myself and my family. But polo gave me something to do in my life! I chose the image of the buff guy as I am super buff and I am the best. I believe that I am superior to everyone, and I believe that whites are the best race out there. I chose the image of the white balloons as I am innocent and I like to party!

I chose the image of a golf course as Jordan Baker was an athletic girl in the novel. Jordan Baker represented the modern girl during the Roaring Twenties. I chose the image of a girl looking away from the camera as I believe that Jordan Baker often did what she wanted, and would stand out and be different from society. Also, the image of the girl looking away from the camera reminded me of Jordan as Jordan was over-confident throughout the novel, and often believed that she was superior to everyone else. She often helped out Gatsby and Daisy with their love problems, but she would always complain about the couple to Nick. I chose the picture of a young flapper as it represented the opposite of Jordan Baker. Even though Jordan Baker was different from other girls, she was not the typical flapper during that time period as she did not go crazy around guys and was not the "damsel in distress." I chose the image of New York City as Jordan seems like the typical city girl. Jordan was fresh and modern and knew where to go/what to do during the whole novel.
In Jordan's words:
I picked the image of the white and black curtains as I feel like I am a very strong individual who is composed of many thoughts and concerns. If you look closely, you can see that the curtains contain words. Those words represent all the things others say about me. A lot of people say respectable things about me as I am someone they look up too. I feel like I am a role model to many individuals. Of course I picked the image of an athletic girl stretching as I chose to be different and not the typical girl by indulging myself in a sport. Golf changed my life and made me the person I am today. I picked the image of a huge mansion as I have grown accustomed to a certain type of living. This is shown by me constantly attending famous parties and getting involved with the wealthy, and not the poor.
